About AvRegs
AvRegs makes the Canadian Aviation Regulations searchable. It is a VOL and ForIT company; ForIT builds and runs it.
What AvRegs is
AvRegs puts the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), their Standards and the Transport Canada instruments around them in one searchable place, current to the latest Justice Laws consolidation. Search understands both regulation numbers and plain language: type 605.14 or flight crew fatigue and you land on the section itself, not page 412 of a PDF. When an amendment comes into force, What’s Changed lists every added, amended and repealed section with the old and new text side by side.
Where the text comes from
The regulation text is reproduced from the Justice Laws Website (laws-lois.justice.gc.ca) under the Reproduction of Federal Law Order, SI/97-5, and re-checked against the current consolidation on a schedule. It is not an official version: the Justice Laws consolidation and the Canada Gazette remain the authoritative text.
Notes, highlights and discussion
You can keep notes, highlights and bookmarks on any section. Those stay private to your account. Each section also has a shared discussion thread, so operators can see how others read and apply the same rule. Reading the library takes a paid plan, so the discussion is between people who fly under these rules.
AvRegs is a VOL and ForIT company
VOL builds the reservation, workforce and regulatory software that Canadian business aviation runs on, for operators, brokers, aircraft owners and flight departments. AvRegs is the regulatory product of VOL and ForIT. Its sister product, AvPosts, is Canada’s aviation job board.
VOL also backs BAT Pros (Business Aviation Technology Professionals), the independent, vendor-neutral community for the people who run technology in business aviation, and its annual BAT Summit. Like AvRegs, both are powered by ForIT.
Powered by ForIT
ForIT (Forward Information Technology) is a managed service provider for aviation, with fractional CTO and CIO leadership and a software development team. ForIT designs, builds and runs the AvRegs software, including the Justice Laws ingest, the search, the amendment tracking and the accounts, and handles support for the site.
How VOL and ForIT work together
AvRegs is built by two companies with different jobs. VOL owns the product and decides what the reference should do for the operators, flight departments and crews who work under the CARs. ForIT writes and runs the software. Product decisions and daily engineering happen in the same conversation, so a gap an operator raises one week can be live on the site the next.
The two companies share the same goal: the most accurate and usable reference to the Canadian Aviation Regulations, with every amendment visible the day it is consolidated and the people who fly under the rules able to annotate and discuss them.
